TRACE Engine Applications
Air Tractor 400 Series-Since 2002 the TRACE Engine has been certified for use in the Air Tractor 400 series aircraft. This conversion had operated against turbine and radial equipped aircraft from the Mid-West to Northern Canada. The TRACE Engine has shown that it is a more affordable and highly productive engine by handling the same workload as turbines without the high annual overhead imposed on operators.
 
Thrush Aircraft-Davis Aviation and TRACE Engines are currently developing the STC for use of the TRACE Engine in the Thrush aircraft. As with the Air Tractor 400 Series STC this conversion will allow operator to have turbine horsepower and performance without the high overhead cost that come with turbine operation. This STC will cover S2R Thrush Models please call for details.
 
Beechcraft King Air-Orenda Recip began the King Air retrofit program in the mid/late 90's and found that the V-8 Engine and the King Air platform were made for each other. The TRACE Engine shines in the higher operating altitude of cooperate aircraft; this application ran at nearly 100mph faster than the turbine at altitude thanks to the 52 in turbocharger allowing the TRACE Engine to maintain horsepower all the way up to altitude. Trace and Davis Aviation are planning to reinstate this program after development of the FADEC system for the TRACE Engine.
 
Lancair-As a test bed for their Tigress aircraft, Lancair and Orenda teamed up to this 600hp variant. This aircraft made its appearance at Airventure where it set a airspeed record in its class, the aircraft hung in the EAA museum for a short time and was then donated to the FAA.
 
Aero Commander-Davis and Trace are currently researching the Aero-Commander as another platform for the TRACE Engine.
 
Vickers Vimy-The Vimy project was organized in 1993 to build a flying replica of the 1919 Vickers Vimy and relive its historic first flights across the globe. This twin-engine replica bomber is the world's largest flying biplane. With a 68 foot wingspan, standing over 16 feet tall, weighing between 4 and 6 tons and cruising at 75 mph. This amazing aircraft made it historic flight equipped with two Orenda V-8 engines. This aircraft made a historic Trans-Atlantic flight in 2005 with aviation enthusiast Steve Fossett as pilot and Mark Rebholz as navigator.

DHC-3 Otter- Orenda sponsored a program to retrofit a OE600 Engine to DHC-3 Otter. This program allowed the engine to show its true utility power in the most extreme of condition. The engine performed excellent in the bush pilot conditions in Canada, allowed for great takeoff and landing capabilities on floats, and powered thru the harsh conditions of the north pole.
 
Grumman Goose- Davis Aviation and TRACE Engines are currently working with Antilles Seaplanes to offer a variant of the Grumman Goose that puts to use the performance of the TRACE Engine in a water operation environment.
